OJC delivers new UIC Graduate College website

Urbana, IL (September 20) - OJC Technologies, an information technology company specializing in software, database, and website development, today announced completion of its new website for the Graduate College at the University of Illinois at Chicago.

The Graduate College site needed vast improvements in usability, accessibility, and information architecture. The site also presented a design challenge: they needed to preserve the original graphic theme, represented in their printed marketing materials, and simultaneously comply with new UIC web standards.

OJC provided a solution by developing a site that builds upon and enhances the Graduate College's bold, contemporary graphical look, while incorporating the new UIC identity standards. Users can now visually connect the Graduate College site with the UIC family of sites while appreciating the Graduate College's distinctive place in that family.

OJC also increased the site's usability through improved navigability and faster download time. OJC accomplished this in several ways: developing a simplified, intuitive information architecture, where link redundancy was eliminated and the main links are always visible; developing, and strategically placing, graphics at the lowest possible file size to increase download time; and, following basic W3C standards to make the site accessible for the disabled.
