OJC improves University of Illinois at Chicago website accessibility
OJC improved accessibility of the UIC main website by providing users the ability to control text font sizes from their web browser. OJC accomplished this through appropriate use of relative font sizes and cascading stylesheets.
Text size can now be adjusted by users in all major web browsers and platforms from the latest Internet Explorer and Netscape browsers back to the Netscape 4.7 series.
The ability to adjust text size allows users to set the text according to their preferences for optimal display and readability. This feature is especially important so that the site is accessible by users with vision impairments.
OJC designed the new UIC main website (www.uic.edu) and released it to the public in December 2001 after ten months of development. The site won two awards for excellence in design and communication. OJC has redesigned a number of other websites for UIC and has continued involvement in site redesigns and maintenance on the campus.
