Urbana Company Builds Award-Winning UIC Website

Urbana, IL (Apr. 4) - OJC Technologies, an information technology company specializing in business applications programming and website development, today announced that its new homepage for the University of Illinois at Chicago has received the Silver Trumpet Award for Web Sites.

The Publicity Club of Chicago (www.publicity.org), the largest regional public relations organization in the country, awards the Silver Trumpet annually for websites that demonstrate distinguished achievement in public relations. Websites are judged for planning, creativity, and execution in business communications.

UIC's new website, now live at www.uic.edu, was released to the public in December after ten months of development by OJC Technologies (OJC). UIC professors, staff, and students have praised the site not just for its new look, but for its dramatically better organization of information, according to Kimberly Baxa, Coordinator of Web Communications for the UIC Office of Public Affairs.

"I have been impressed with [OJC's] leadership and organization skills, their design savvy and creativity and their knowledge and understanding of our technical specifications and needs. In particular we have set high standards for accessibility of our web site and OJC has been thorough in ... meeting our goals," said Baxa.

"The new site looks GREAT! Thanks to you and your team for a job well done," said Mark Rosati, Associate Chancellor for Public Affairs at UIC in a letter to OJC.

In the last year, OJC has performed a number of high-profile projects for higher education clients. The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign hired OJC to build a web-based version of the university's Instructor and Course Evaluation System (ICES). A public demo is online at che.ojctech.com/demo/eon. In June OJC will release a new website for the Committee on Institutional Cooperation, a consortium that includes the Big Ten universities.

OJC (www.ojctech.com) has been located in downtown Urbana since its founding in August, 1998. OJC has grown from 2 to 18 employees while providing services for clients ranging from single individuals to Fortune 100 companies.

The Publicity Club of Chicago (www.publicity.org) provides professional development and educational seminars, publishes a directory of Illinois media outlets, and gives its coveted annual awards for public relations achievement.

The URL for the UIC website is www.uic.edu.
