Patricia Hruby Powell, award winning storyteller will tell stories of moving to the Greek Islands in the 70's, moving to London, and moving to the country from Champaign-Urbana.
Small food delicacies will be supplied to audience members, according to the story being told: Greek, Mediterranean, British high tea staples, and country fare, overseen by chefs Rae Spooner and Carl Reisman. The audience is asked to Bring Your Own Bottle. Glasses and ice-filled coolers will be supplied. The concert will be followed by a "Mostly Motown" sock hop so that those in the audience can move...and dance.
Patricia has been a long time resident and performer in the Champaign-Urbana area, having housed her dance company ONE PLUS ONE here while touring the United States, Europe, Central and South America and the Caribbean during the 70's and 80's. She is the author of two picture books, Blossom Tales: Flower Stories of Many Folk and the forthcoming bilingual (English/Navajo) Zinnia: How the Corn Was Saved.
The partnership between artist Powell and business OJC Technologies proves to be an exciting one. The storyboard/pictograph/score for Patricia's pieces will be projected as a back drop to her telling/dancing performance. The concert is intended for adults and the admission is $7.
The attractive second floor OJC loft space can be accessed from the street at 115 W. Main, across from the Cinema Galleries, or from the municipal parking garage at Elm & Broadway. Both entries are wheelchair accessible. For more information check www.talesforallages.com, Patricia's website.
