Building Trust to Facilitate Close Collaboration

Client

The Committee on Institutional Cooperation (CIC) is an academic consortium of twelve major teaching and research universities.

Challenge

CIC approached OJC with a 3000-page website that had been used for a decade both as a communication tool and filing cabinet for this dynamic organization whose purpose is forever shifting to reflect the priorities of its provosts. The task of website reorganization was formidable and the budget was small.

Solution

OJC decided to help CIC help themselves: OJC did design and programming work and supported CIC staff in the process of reviewing and editing old content and moving it into the new site. OJC gave CIC a procedure to analyze and classify all existing site content. Using this information, OJC developed a new site architecture that nested each piece of content into an elegant and intuitive navigation structure. OJC created processes and guidelines for moving old content into the new site and trained and managed CIC staff in this process saving CIC tens of thousands of dollars.
